Johnny Depp’s new movie trailer reunites him with Pirates star and Al Pacino | Films | Entertainment
Johnny Depp has finally returned to the director’s chair 25 years ago after his debut with 1997’s The Brave.
His new movie Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness is a biographical drama about three days in the life of the Bohemian Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “A 72-hour whirlwind through the streets of WWI Paris, Italian bohemian artist Modigliani attempts to out manoeuvre bombs, policemen, girlfriends and critics in an increasingly desperate search of a home for his art.”
Riccardo Scamarcio stars as Modì alongside Al Pacino (who also produces the film) as Maurice Gangnat and Stephen Graham as Léopold Zborowski.
Following the film’s screening at the Rome Film Festival last week, Depp spoke about returning to directing and identifying with Modi.
Depp told The Hollywood Reporter: “My upbringing was not the same as Modigliani’s, but you do understand the levels that you have to climb, up a ladder or up a wall to get to a point where you earn your stripes. I do understand him in the sense that he stuck to his guns with his particular style, which was far too brute for those at the time.”
Modì, Three Days on the Wing of Madness’ UK release date is TBC.
